2013 Thanksgiving musings:

I am one of those people that believes in and lives a varied definition of family (ie. not just blood relatives). I am fortunate to have family near and far and to have those that have recently come into my life and those that have been around my whole life.

Being "home" has changed every year since I was 16 years old; at times it sucked; at times it was amazing, but it has always added to MY story.

This year the story changed once again and I was blessed to be with blood relatives. We were going to go around the table and say what we were thankful for, but time got away from us, so I am going to do it here.

I am thankful that I am healthy and that I am able to do the things I love; like get up this morning and participate in a 5K run before my family is out of bed (although.....admittedly I wish they were there for side line support).

I am thankful for my wonderful husband who I am way too hard on and yet he still puts up with me anyway. I am thankful for my two fantastic and amazing kids, who tell me "mom, no one is perfect." I am thankful for my aunts, who I wish I could see more often, but love me unconditionally. I am thankful for my cousins, who are truly some of my best friends in this world. I am thankful for my in-laws who did a beautiful job raising their two boys and I was lucky enough to snatch one of them. As an only child, I am thankful to be able to be an aunt through my husbands side because otherwise I would have missed out.

My musings are not complete and I will continue after a good nights slumber.
