Artists date
I am still recovering from yesterday and last night. While I am not replaying every minute detail in my head any longer, I still have this overwhelming sense of loss.
I should be at work right now, but instead took the time to color. When my mom was undergoing chemotherapy friends and family would come over and just sit with her. Often they would bring meals and often they would talk, but many times they would color. When I was able to break away from my sweet baby girl, I would go visit and sit with my mom for hours coloring. Sometimes others would join us and sometimes it would be just the two of us.
My mom had found these amazing coloring books at Borders Bookstore. They were not your Disney or cartoon, flimsy paper variety. These coloring books had intricate designs and had a stained glass feel to them because you were coloring on a vellum type paper.
Each person would put their name or initials and sometimes the date on their artwork. Now, I have those coloring books and my daughter, who is 8, loves them. She took out the "Floral alphabet" coloring book and brought it and markers in the car with her this morning on the way to school.
I just went to the grocery store and have a car full. Instead of rushing home to my "to do" list, I remain in my car in the parking lot. I took 15 minutes to color an "I."
I finished my coloring of the "I" and thought, "huh, it's no wonder I colored an 'I' this morning.
